This modality is used in conjunction with massage techniques for the face, scalp and neck muscles that affect jaw alignment and tension. Diseases and disorders of this joint (referred to as TMJD) are characterized by pain in the jaw and surrounding tissues and limitations in jaw movements. Symptoms of TMJ dysfunction may include jaw clicking and locking, headaches, sensitive teeth, ringing in the ears, pain in the neck, shoulders and back.
